A spectacular celebration of traditional Black Forest clockmaking, this 8-day musical cuckoo clock is richly decorated with a detailed woodland hunting scene and an impressive range of moving features.
The hand-finished wooden case takes the form of a traditional forest chalet, crowned by a distinctive bell tower. Across the façade, carved trees, bears, a hunter and other woodland details create an elaborate three-dimensional scene, while the lower section incorporates a moving mill wheel.
On the hour, the traditional cuckoo mechanism is accompanied by music and animation. Dancing figures rotate, the mill wheel turns, the hunter and bear figures move, and the clock plays a selection of 36 melodies, creating a wonderfully theatrical display.
Despite the amount of decoration, this remains a traditional mechanical Black Forest clock at heart. Its 8-day movement requires winding only approximately once a week, with the familiar pine-cone weights and chains forming part of the classic cuckoo clock design.
An automatic night shut-off silences the cuckoo and musical functions during designated night-time hours, making it suitable for display within the home.
