Professional Jewellery Cleaning & Ring Care

Marcus Tempus provides professional jewellery cleaning from our jewellery workshop in Barnet, helping remove the everyday build-up that can dull diamonds, gemstones and precious metal jewellery.

Before cleaning, we assess the piece and its stones so an appropriate method can be chosen. Where suitable, workshop cleaning may include ultrasonic and steam cleaning, with visible settings checked for signs of wear.

Workshop Cleaning

Jewellery Cleaning Services

Cleaning is selected according to the jewellery rather than treating every piece in the same way.

Diamonds

Engagement Ring Cleaning

Professional cleaning for suitable diamond engagement rings, helping remove residue from around and beneath the setting.

Ultrasonic

Deep Cleaning

Ultrasonic cleaning can remove difficult build-up from suitable jewellery, but is only used when appropriate for the stones and construction.

Gemstones

Gemstone Jewellery

Coloured gemstones are assessed individually because some stones require gentler treatment and should not be ultrasonically cleaned.

Workshop Check

Setting Inspection

Visible claws and settings can be checked during the process, allowing obvious wear or movement to be identified before the piece is returned.

Not Every Stone Is The Same

Why we inspect jewellery before cleaning.

Ultrasonic cleaning is extremely effective for many pieces, particularly suitable diamond jewellery, but it is not appropriate for every gemstone or construction.

Porous, delicate, heavily included, treated or fragile stones may require a different approach. Antique jewellery and pieces with worn settings also deserve particular care.

That is why we prefer to inspect the jewellery first rather than promise the same cleaning process for everything that comes into the workshop.

DiamondsMany diamond pieces respond beautifully to professional cleaning, subject to the condition of the setting.
Coloured GemstonesThe gemstone is identified or assessed before deciding whether ultrasonic, steam or gentler cleaning is appropriate.
Antique JewelleryOlder settings, foiled stones and delicate construction can require a more conservative approach.
Loose StonesIf a stone or claw appears insecure, we can discuss the setting repair before cleaning continues.

Frequently Asked Questions

Jewellery Cleaning FAQs

Can you clean engagement rings?

Yes. We clean suitable engagement rings and can check visible claws and settings for signs of wear during the process.

Is ultrasonic cleaning safe for all jewellery?

No. Ultrasonic cleaning is not suitable for every gemstone, treatment or piece of jewellery. We inspect the item first and select an appropriate method.

Can professional cleaning make diamonds sparkle again?

Cleaning can remove oils, soap and everyday build-up that reduce a diamond's brilliance, often making a noticeable difference to its appearance.

Do you check for loose stones?

We can check visible stones and settings during the cleaning process. If a setting appears worn or insecure, we can advise on repair.

Can you clean coloured gemstone jewellery?

Often, yes, but the method depends on the gemstone and condition of the jewellery. Some stones require much gentler treatment than others.

Do you offer polishing and rhodium plating too?

Yes. Where suitable, cleaning can be combined with refinishing or rhodium plating. We can advise after inspecting the jewellery.
