Vintage watches often carry decades of history. Their softened edges, light marks, original bezels, crowns, bracelets and surface patina can all contribute to their character and collectability.
Some manufacturer-led servicing programmes may recommend replacing worn components or returning a watch to a more uniform factory appearance. Independent restoration gives the owner an opportunity to discuss which features should be preserved and which should be restored.
Before work begins, we can discuss options such as leaving the case untouched, carrying out a very light sympathetic refinish, restoring only the bracelet or completing a fuller case and bracelet restoration.
Nothing is refinished simply because it can be. The decision is based on the condition of the watch, its age, its originality and the customer’s preference.
